El Quim de la Boqueria

Phil meets up with chef Pablo Albuerne for a tour of one of the greatest food markets in the world. They browse tons of unique stands selling seafood, meat, and even a whole lambs head! They finally settle down at a counter that specializes in fried eggs mixed with ingredients like squid, mushroom, octopus and even foie gras!

La Taberna del Suculent

Phil joins his friend Emil at one of the best tapas restaurants in Barcelona. Emil teaches Phil on the origins of tapas and they enjoy a meal filled with tiny plates of goodness.

Bar Cañete

Phil and Emil’s lunch does not finish with one restaurant, as they meet their friend Mercé at another amazing tapas bar named Bar Cañete. They are known for their seafood inspired tapas, like fish on a bed of ratatouille, fried shrimp and octopus, and even a whole fried garlic.

Bodega 1900

Phil joins Ferran Adria and his brother Albert Adria for a meal at their new vermouth bar, Bodega 1900. They sample some vermouth and tasty snacks that come with it like sardines and an olive dish that “changed the world.”

Tickets

Phil is then taken to Adria’s second restaurant, Tickets, which is one of the most popular in all of Barcelona. The restaurant's theme is simply stated: fun. All the dishes come from childhood pleasures, but are crafted in an elegant and modern point of view. As Phil says, “It’s theatre you can eat!”

Granja Viader

Phil, on the hunt for perfect coffee, finds Albert Adria’s favorite breakfast place, Granja Viader. Phil meets Albert and his friend Paco for incredible hot chocolate that can only be described as “chocolate pudding.” Along with churros, it made the perfect morning treat.

Pakta

The tour continues as Albert gives Phil a look at his Peruvian Japanese restaurant, Pakta. Here, Phil is delighted to sit down and taste some of the restaurant's best offerings which included a pork belly and kimchi bao, a beautiful selection of sushi, and oysters.

Vila Viniteca

Phil's last stop in Barcelona is according to him, “the grand temple of Iberico ham.” Phil gets a tour around the store, and gets a lesson on how jamón is made and how it is prepared for serving. Finally, Phil gets a taste of the famous Iberico, and even gets a tutorial on how to slice up the famous jamón.

FUN FACT!

Originally, Barcelona was supposed to be home to the Eiffel Tower. But, city officials rejected the structure, not convinced it would be a great addition.
