Founded in 1862, Piriquita has been baking for the kings of Lisbon. They retain their quality and serve delicious travesseiros (pillows with almond cream) and queijadas (pies made from fresh cheese, sugar, eggs, flour and a little cinnamon wrapped in a crispy batter).

Phil befriends people sitting at a random table in Pastéis de Belém. Pastéis de Belém is regarded as the best place to go for pastéis de nata in Lisbon.

Phil and Ivo dine near the shorline cliff at Ponto Final. They get an amazing view of the ocean and the 25 de Abril Bridge. They have fish, shellfish and soup dishes while overlooking the ocean.

Belcanto is the first Lisbon restaurant to earn 2 Michelin stars. Owned by Chef Jose Avillez, Belcanto serves a sophisticated evolution of Portuguese cuisine. Phil dines on the tasting menu which includes gold egg, large prawn and an orange cream dessert.

Alma means “soul” and is a one Michelin star restaurant owned by Henrique Sa Passoa. Phil is invited to dine on cobble street cod (bacalao) and chocolate hazelnut dessert.

Lisbon’s iconic yellow trams were called carros americanos and were reportedly inspired by the trams in San Francisco.
