Marché D’Aligre

Phil joins french American chef Alix at a market known for their rotisserie chicken flavored only with salt and pepper. They then go to a local park and enjoy their feast on a ping pong table.

Arpège

Phil meets Alain Passard, one of the pioneers of farm to table cuisine, at one of his three farms outside of Paris to learn the process of how a meal is made at Arpège. Phil is then treated to a couple of dishes made from ingredients and flavors that were cultivated from the farm. A selection of vegetables with pumpkin seed oil, and plum sorbet were some of the stand outs.

Blé Sucré

Phil explores the world of Parisian breakfast with American expat David Lebovitz, who is one of the leading authorities on all things french pastry. They feast on the world famous croissant, and even learn a few things on how to identify a fake croissant!

Pierre Herme

Phil and David’s eating tour comes to a close at one of the best pastry stores in all of Paris, Pierre Herme. Here Phil tries macarons, the “vanilla bomb,” a raspberry and lychee tart, and Phil’s favorite, the chocolate tart. They have several locations in Paris.

L'avant Comptoir

Phil meets chef Yves Camdeborde who revolutionized a way of eating fresh, healthy food, at an affordable price and in a casual setting. Along with Yves’s daughter, the three of them try a dish made by Yves which is a modern take on the cheese plate.

L'Ami Jean

Phil is invited by chef Stephane Jego to eat at his fantastic restaurant L’Ami Jean. Phil, seated right next to the kitchen, gets a front row seat to the magic being made in the kitchen. He enjoys a great meal including steamed mackerel, sauteed scallops, and his famous rice pudding.

L'As Du Falaffel

Phil finds himself at one of the best and most popular casual dining experiences in Paris at L'As Du Falaffel. There he enjoys the famous falafel sandwich, but then gets behind the counter to experience the hectic lunch rush himself as he sells falafel to the local perisians.

L'Ami Louis

Phil meets back up with chef Alix, to eat, according to Phil, the best chicken in the world. The chicken is cooked in duck fat, chicken fat, and salt, and they got to see the process first hand in the kitchen. Along with the chicken, Phil and Alix enjoy a potato galette, and french fries.
