Lucky Bastard Saloon

Considering it shares the name of his production company, Phil has to make Lucky Bastard Saloon his first stop in Nashville. This line dancing bar is fun for everybody, unless Phil is dancing in your line.

The Loveless Cafe

Phil meets up with his old friend Patricia Heaton at The Loveless Cafe for breakfast! They start off with biscuits with all sorts of fillings; pimento cheese, brisket, fried chicken, sausage, and fried green tomatoes. Then for the main course, they have breakfast plates complete with country ham and red eye gravy. To finish things off, they split a pulled pork omelet. Don’t forget your appetite if you come here for breakfast!

Mellow Mushroom

Phil is just walking down the street when he hears Wild Bill and the Bruisers playing in the Mellow Mushroom. They’re so good that he needs to stop in to have a listen!

Joyland

Joyland is an elevated fast food restaurant from the James Beard Award winning chef, Sean Brock. Phil is joined by country music star Brad Paisley for a fast food feast. Some of the favorites include the milkshakes, their “crustburger”, and fried chicken on a stick. What really sets Joyland apart from other fast food is that everything is made from only the best local ingredients.

Locust

Phil takes his daughter Lily to for a dumpling lunch at Locust! Chef Trevor Moran opened this small-menu dumpling house after working at the world renowned restaurant Noma in Copenhagen. They start off with oysters paired with frozen mignonette and beetroot hot sauce, tuna belly, delicious dumplings, and beef tartare handrolls. They finish off their meal with a beautiful kakigori (Japanese shaved ice).

Maiz De La Vida

Phil meets up with his friend and one of his favorite comedians, Nate Bargatze, at chef Julio Hernandez’s Maiz De La Vida. Knowing that Nate is somewhat of a picky eater, Phil tries to expand his culinary horizons by ordering the entire menu. They share tacos, quesadillas, and Phil’s favorite - queso birria with wagyu beef.

Arnold’s Country Kitchen

Food writer Jackie Gutierrez-Jones takes Phil to one of Nashville’s most famous southern eateries, Arnold’s Country Kitchen. This cafeteria-style restaurant offers all of your southern favorites, ribs, blackened fish, fried chicken, and all the best sides. Anyone who shies away from cafeteria-style dining has probably never had it as good as this.

Prince’s Hot Chicken

Phil takes his son Ben for some hot chicken at the place that made it famous, Prince’s Hot Chicken. He also gets to meet Ms. Andre, the queen of Prince’s. Phil and Ben try to push the limits of their spice tolerances, working their way from mild hot chicken sandwiches all the way to extra hot. Be careful, the extra hot requires gloves!

Pelican and Pig

Food writer Delia Jo Ramsey takes Phil for dinner at one of her Nashville favorites, Chef Nick 

Guidry’s Pelican and Pig. Featuring a seasonal woodfired menu, this is a can’t miss meal if you’re visiting Nashville.

Rolf and Daughters

Phil meets up with his friends T Bone Burnett and Callie Khouri for a pasta dinner at Rolf and Daughters. Chef Philip Krajec starts them off with roasted kabocha squash, lady peas with squid and nduja, and then moves on to bucatini with clams chili butter, and a delicious mushroom duck pasta.

Daddy’s Dogs

Being a hotdog fanatic, Phil needs to try Sean Porter’s Daddy’s Dogs. He tries their “Music City Dog”, a hot dog topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion and bbq sauce. Next up is the big daddy, which is topped with cream cheese, a pickle, bacon, jalapenos and their secret sauce.

The Store

Inspired by Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara, Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley opened The Store to help feed food insecure families in the Nashville area. A community grocery store, The Store allows families in need to shop for free, giving them the ability to have a trip to the grocery store without the financial burden. Pinewood Social

For the last stop on his trip, Phil goes bowling at the Pinewood Social with his family and all of his Nashville friends. They bowl, have some breakfast tacos, some drinks, and listen to some great live music from Wild Bill and the Bruisers!
